3D Printing and More for Your Regular Use

October 9, 2019

Another problem associated with the material is the spool that is sold with the filament.  Many companies poorly regulate the filament traction at the time of winding and so the wires start tractioned and inhomogeneously. At the time of extrusion, the wire may lock and stop feeding the extruder, causing the machine to stop receiving filament and start printing in the air. This error occurs mainly at the end of the spool and requires the user to be at the machine side to detect any abnormality, which is not feasible for long print runs. A visit to www.sync-innovation.com makes things easier now.

How to avoid a problem reel?

Read carefully the comments of brand buyers and do a search on the subject.  Choose well-known suppliers with good customer reviews.  It is expected that a company that cares about color pattern tone with constant wire diameter will also worry about winding its spools.

Take good care of your print nozzle

The friction of the material through the print nozzle wears the tip and causes dimensional loss, gradually worsening the quality of the printed layers.  High-temperature variation and frequent material changes without proper cleaning may cause clogging of the extruder nozzle channel.

The print nozzle should be cleaned and changed at regular intervals, especially if you use the printer frequently and use a variety of types and brands.  If you are unsure how to perform this change or maintenance, ask a specialist for help. Each polymer has a specific solvent and can be used to aid cleaning.  The nozzle that is clogged with ABS, for example, can be soaked in an acetone bottle, which will attack the plastic and facilitate its removal.

Pay attention to table grip

Thin and long parts with little contact with the table may contract during printing and peeling off the table.  To avoid this problem, use adhesion enhancing products such as stick glue, hairspray or special glues recommended by each manufacturer. Using a sacrificial layer called Brim is important to increase the contact area of the part.  Brim or Raft can be added to the part before printing using the slicing software.  Other factors such as the contraction of materials will be discussed in the following topic about temperature.

Set the temperature correctly

Temperature can affect the machine in three ways:

  • Overheating of the printer electronics: Just like computers and other machines, 3D printers are sensitive to overheating. Overheating can cause serious problems with the operation of the 3D printer, from loss of performance to damage to electronic components. Maintenance and cleaning of cooling fans should be performed regularly, as well as keeping the entire printer free of dust and dirt by cleaning and clearing the vents.
  • Wrong setting of extrusion temperature. Most commercial filaments follow manufacturers’ indications of the ideal extrusion temperature range.  We should test the filament before starting a large job to check the flow of material through the nozzle.
  • Warping or Warp: The third and last error associated with temperature is called warping, which can be freely translated into Portuguese as warping.

Open 3D printers suffer more from this problem than closed printers, so you should avoid placing your printer near open windows or aisles that have a draft.
